Realising a sense of humour weighs nothing; Dr Alex Kumar travels light armed only with a stethoscope, a camera and his curiosity for life. As the world’s first combined global health medical doctor and photographer, he specialises in documenting the world’s diseases and greatest health challenges, holding a specialist interest in global health security. As one of United Kingdom’s most travelled doctors, working in global health and infectious diseases in West Africa in an Ebola Treatment Centre, Zika virus in Brazil. Alex lived in the Canadian Arctic among Inuit and spent one-year overwintering in Antarctica as the European Space Agency Human Spaceflight Research M.D. towards a future manned mission to Mars. He completed Singularity University’s Global Solutions Programme at NASA Ames, Mountain View and currently works in primary care in London.
